14 — CONNECTIONS & PLUGINS
Plugins
Plugins extend what NORD can do: extra tools, memory backends and image-generation providers. Unlike an MCP server they do not come from outside — they are part of NORD itself.
They are off by default — you switch on what you need, one at a time.
Switching a plugin on
- Go to Settings and then the
Pluginstab. - Each plugin shows a name, a short description and a switch reading
AanorUit. - Switch on what you want to use. A change applies from your next message.
Why they are off by default
Every active plugin is a tool NORD can reach for. Switching everything on "to see what happens" makes what happens harder to predict, and makes every conversation a little heavier. Switching on what you need is the better order.
Plugins you cannot switch on
Some plugins carry the label Alleen voor beheerders. The switch is then visible but disabled, with the reason attached: the plugin can reach outside your own working folder.
When saving fails
If a change fails, the switch snaps back to its old position and a message appears naming the plugin. So the screen never shows a state the server does not hold.
When the list is empty
Then it says no plugins are available at the moment. That is the real state of affairs, not a loading error.
Note
A plugin gives NORD an ability, not permission. Everything that leaves the building still runs through Approvals.
