05 — CHAT & KNOWLEDGE

Company knowledge

Where an answer comes fromOn every question NORD pulls in three things: the conversation itself, what Memory holds about you, and the relevant pieces of Company knowledge. Those three together produce the answer. What is in none of them is something NORD does not know about your business. The conversationMemoryCompany knowledgeNORDAnswer
Where an answer comes from

Company knowledge is what NORD answers from: your documents, procedures, prices, history. Without it you get generic answers; with it you get answers about your business.

This is the setting that makes the biggest difference to answer quality. Start here.

Adding knowledge

  1. Go to Settings and then the Bedrijfsinformatie tab.
  2. Drag a file into the box, or use kies een bestand.
  3. What you add is split into readable pieces so NORD pulls in only the relevant part per question.
  4. Under Geüploade documenten you can see what is in there. What is not listed is not something NORD knows.

What can go in

The box accepts PDF, TXT, Markdown, CSV of JSON — max 10 MB. That is the whole list: a file type that is not on it is refused rather than half-read.

Works well: procedures, frequently asked questions with the real answers, pricing agreements, product descriptions, how you go about things.

Works less well: a scan of a document with no text layer, or a folder of a hundred files where you do not know what is in them. A PDF that is only photographs of pages contains no text as far as a computer is concerned.

Company knowledge, Memory or an attachment?

Three places that look alike and do different things:

WhereFor whatHow long
Company knowledgeDocuments about your businessPermanent, on every question
MemoryShort entries about you and how you workPermanent, on every question
Attachment in the chatThis one piece, this one timeOnly within that conversation

So do not put a manual in Memory, and do not attach the same price list on every question.

Knowledge is per account

What you add belongs to your account. Your colleague does not see it, and NORD does not pull it in when your colleague asks a question.

Larger sources that keep themselves current

For knowledge that changes — a handbook in Notion, a page you maintain — you can connect the source instead of uploading it. See Knowledge sources.
